taurus season

Another year around the sun! All praise and shout-out to the man above. It was a very exciting and shaky 2023, but that’s life! It’s so crazy to think of where I am now and how much further I have to go. This was a last-minute impromptu shoot that I decided to do a few days before my birthday. I was just like, “Why not?” Everyone should be celebrating their life more and I’m strutting my 30s with confidence, style and grace. For me, I sometimes like a fully thought-out plan, but I was just like, “You need to take quicker action on this creative thought.” (Shout-out to @YaGirlAley for this gem, full message on her socials) Sometimes, I get so caught up in thinking everything through and eventually at times not executing fully. This year it’s all about completing more creative ideas even if they don’t turn out so great!

The star of the show is this beautiful top that I bought in the pandemic for a previous birthday and I never got around to wearing (See what I said about executing lol). It’s from a woman-owned, UK-based brand @Immorallondon on Instagram. The top’s royal purple color and Victorian sleeves with the ties made this the top of my history-loving dreams. The whole look was based around this top, so I just wanted to make sure I did it justice. Usually my rule is with long sleeves on the top, I tend to want to show a bit of leg on the bottom. This buttercream yellow skirt was a perfect combination with the purple, coupled with my favorite jade necklace (second hand from RubyLane.com) and the Versace platform wedge dupes. The earrings are from the ultra talented @JeBlanc, a woman-owned sculptural jewelry brand. Overall, this look really embodied my Taurus sun sign and I think I made Venus proud.

change is in the air

Maaaannnn life really started hitting me with a mean right hook after my last post haha. I can not believe it’s been almost a year! I’m getting back into my creative bag: sewing, photography and exploring my personal style. Spring is upon us, so change is in the air. But I also just feel something different in my spirit to really just live. No more watering myself down over the fear of being perceived! Who cares? People literally are going to have something to say regardless, so stay true and do you! And friendly reminder to put that outfit on sis! My birthday is in April, which is always my official “new year”, so my mood for the year is to take more risks, explore and just have fun!

MONOCHROMATIC

Brown is a color that I absolutely adore and that I definitely need more of in my closet! Blame the Taurus in me, but I just love earth tones! This look is casual and chic but definitely giving “boss” vibes. You can’t go wrong with a well-fitted blazer to dress up a look and make you feel put together. Perfect for women’s history month in my opinion! How has March been going for you? Still in quarantine? Or are you over it and ready for hot girl summer to be here already? Let me know down below. xoxo

BOUDOUIR BAE

Let me be honest, I’ve always been a true homebody, only interacting with the outside world if necessary. My current routine is work, grocery store/errands, and home. So I’ve decided that even though a natural-light outdoor shoot is ideal, why not utilize my tiny apartment to create outfit posts? This will definitely help me to be more consistent and creative from the comfort of my home, which is where majority of us are wearing our outfits anyway these days. I’ve worn this look twice already, so I had to bring it to styllabus! (I mean, if you are not getting multiple wears out of your clothes should it even be in your closet?)

You all know I love green, so here I am adorned in it again. The edit makes it hard to tell but this is a green thrifted top from a brand called Laura Scott. It’s beautifully made and the crinkle texture just shines in the light, so sublime. To keep that texture vibe going, I paired these old H&M plisse pants to add that touch of sophistication. These pants are so light and comfy, I have been on the hunt for more in various colors! Pulled the look together by accessorizing with my Sam Edelman boots and a green necklace and earrings. As you can see by the title, I was attempting a boudoir-esque shoot vibe, but obviously a little more covered up. How could I have styled this look to be more boudoir? Let me know your thoughts below!

INDIGO

For me, putting together winter looks is all about incorporating layers, statement outerwear pieces, fly boots, and of course, looking good while staying warm! For my first blog post of the winter, I wanted to feature a simple, yet polished look for the season. As 2019 comes to an end, I am finally getting into the groove of making sure that every outfit is a true reflection of me. Asking myself questions like, “Will this piece last in my closet?” or “How many wears will I get out of this item?,” has tremendously changed my shopping habits. Instead of impulse buying, I make sure that each clothing item is a piece that I absolutely love. Take this denim trench, for example. It’s a piece from the ASOS in-house design brand that I snagged from the ASOS sale section, and it is truly the star of the look! I fell in love with this statement outerwear piece because it reminded me so much of the over-sized denim dress showcased in Fenty’s initial launch.

Honestly, I could’ve done the trench a bit more justice if I had cinched it in at the waist with the belt! Nevertheless, it still looks great! The dark wash of the denim is perfect for the winter season and it pairs seamlessly with so many things. In fact, by pairing it with my suede boots, brown faux croc shoulder bag, and JeBlanc necklace (which is absolutely stunning!), I was able to truly highlight the denim trench’s styling versatility. Although this look definitely exemplifies my go-to vibe for this winter, I also plan to explore new silhouettes and I’m excited to share the looks with you guys! What’s your go-to look for the winter?
